The Department of Agriculture and Water Resources (DAWR) have finalised the seasonal measures for the 2021-22 high risk season.

BMSB seasonal measures will apply to targeted goods manufactured and shipped from target risk countries, that have been shipped between 1 September 2021 and 30 April 2022 (inclusive), and to vessels that berth, load, or tranship from target risk countries within the same period.

The measures remain consistent with the 2020-21 BMSB risk season with the addition of Poland as a target risk country. A full list of countries is below.

Note: The shipped on board date, as indicated on the Ocean Bill of lading, is the date used to determine when goods have been shipped. “Gate in” or “manufacture” dates and times will not be accepted to determine when goods are shipped. With the current delays in Seafreight, we expect this to be a significant issue on season commencement.

The link to the department website is as follows, which includes further information including which goods are subject to measures and treatment options.

We have also received verbal advice from the Department that we should expect numerous “random” inspections on airfreight arrivals from target risk countries as the “emerging risk” of airfreight and BMSB is being considered.
